Position Overview:
The Acquisition Specialist II will play a vital role in facilitating procurement activities for specialized Air Force programs.

In accordance with relevant Federal, Department of Defense, and Air Force acquisition policies, laws, regulations, and guidelines, the Acquisition Specialist II will assist the Contracting Officer in securing essential national security capabilities. This includes overseeing contract administration from the initial requirements definition to contract fulfillment and monitoring contract performance.

Additionally, the Acquisition Specialist II will mentor junior staff and conduct quality reviews of their work products and deliverables.


Key Responsibilities:
As an Acquisition Specialist II within our AFRCO team, your duties will include:

- Collaborating with the Contracting Officer to strategize and manage acquisitions for a diverse range of products and services within the contracts division.

- Providing comprehensive contract support, which encompasses conducting market analysis, preparing solicitation documents (both pre and post-award), evaluating proposals for compliance, performing cost/price assessments, assisting in negotiation strategies, and managing invoice processing.

- Supporting the alignment of acquisition planning, requirements development, and resource allocation into actionable project plans that align with program objectives and strategic goals.

- Facilitating effective program execution and informed decision-making.

- Working alongside the Contracting Officer to devise acquisition strategies, including determining contract methods/types, and performing contract administration tasks such as maintaining contract files and preparing modifications.

- Assisting in the communication of project status and challenges, as well as developing recommendations for acquisition and policy improvements.


Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science (BA/BS) degree.

- A minimum of 5 years of experience in government contracting, either in the private sector or as a GS Contract Specialist or higher.

- Additional education or relevant higher-level certifications may substitute for experience, subject to customer approval.


Experience Requirements:
- Proven expertise in managing contract actions from inception to execution.

- Extensive experience in conducting source selections, performing cost or price analyses, negotiations, and preparing related contract documentation in accordance with directives and policies.

- At least 5 years of relevant experience within the DoD/IC or related industry, including a minimum of 1 year in a Special Access Program (SAP) or Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) environment within the last 5 years.

- Proficiency in ConWrite is preferred.

- A valid driver's license and an active TS/SCI clearance are required.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience holding a contracting warrant.
- Familiarity with source selection processes.
- Experience managing large-scale purchases.
- Capability to complete a Government Counterintelligence Scope Polygraph (CI Poly).

- Knowledge of contracting for various products and services related to major systems, research and development (R&D), and complex programs, utilizing a broad range of contracting methodologies as outlined by the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and other applicable supplements.

- Ability to thrive under tight deadlines with demanding performance expectations.

- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
