POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the guidance of the Production Supervisor and in collaboration with the Team Leader, you will safely execute a range of tasks to accurately assemble, fit, and connect components in the production of large and heavy mechanical products, adhering to specifications and production timelines while making independent decisions with minimal supervision, provided appropriate instructions are given.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize tools effectively to manufacture or repair parts and products.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow assembly line workers to construct products.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including diagrams, schematics, and blueprints, or follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Identify defective items and manage them according to established protocols.

Primary Duties

  • Clean and assemble component parts, machined components, and subassemblies.
  • Employ various hand tools, pneumatic tools, hydraulic tools, and precision measuring instruments to complete tasks.
  • Remove imperfections from parts using hand files, hone stones, or portable pneumatic grinders.
  • Operate overhead cranes and forklifts to transport parts and materials within the work area and to assemble large components.
  • Make minor adjustments, repairs, or setups to equipment or machines under supervision.
  • Perform all job functions safely in accordance with plant safety standards and report any issues to the team leader or Production Supervisor.
  • Other responsibilities may include basic welding, cleaning, priming, and painting of components or assemblies.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • 0-2 years of experience in heavy equipment manufacturing is desirable.
  • Familiarity with common mechanical concepts, practices, and procedures is required.
  • Relevant trade school or college coursework is a plus.
  • Ability to accurately use and interpret a tape measure and read job-related blueprints is essential.
  • Proficient in reading drawings and blueprints.
  • Capability to operate overhead cranes and forklifts.
  • Basic computer skills, including file management, are preferred.
  • Dependability and dedication to completing tasks accurately and efficiently are crucial.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to new challenges are necessary.
  • Ability to work independently with reasonable instructions and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills to express needs and ask questions clearly.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and/or oral instructions.
  • Capacity to meet production standards and deadlines.
  • Willingness to accept constructive feedback and make necessary adjustments.

Work Environment

The role is set in a manufacturing environment where exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools, and equipment is common. Employees may encounter vibrations, fumes, airborne particles, and varying weather conditions. The noise level can be quite high, consistent with an industrial assembly facility, and hearing protection may be required.
