Position Overview

Penn Foster Inc. is implementing an innovative customer engagement strategy aimed at enhancing the experience of patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals (HCPs) in a dynamic healthcare landscape. This model focuses on local care settings to ensure a higher quality of service that prioritizes patient care.

Strategic Ecosystem Approach

This approach fosters collaboration among account management, medical teams, patient access, and market access to engage local healthcare systems effectively. The goal is to identify opportunities that enhance the patient experience through a cohesive and coordinated care model, supported by digital tools to bridge care gaps.

Role of the Health Science Advisor

In this evolved engagement model, the Health Science Advisor (HSA) will connect with HCPs using a mix of in-person, virtual, and digital resources, providing in-depth knowledge about products and the conditions they address. Clinical and Scientific Specialists (CSS) will offer immediate clinical insights and personalized education on disease states, thought leadership, and real-world evidence.

Regional Leadership

Each ecosystem is directed by Ecosystem Leads, organized into regional areas. These leads possess the autonomy to evaluate local market needs and tailor strategies accordingly. The future focus will also include enhancing the quality of customer engagement and fostering accountability between patients and healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct proactive outreach to HCPs on various topics, including:
  2. Product access, covering local market payer coverage, prior authorization, formulary placement, and availability expectations.
  3. On-Label Information: Share consistent and approved information confidently, addressing complex inquiries.
  4. Guidance on patient care, including standard protocols and expert opinions.
  5. Facilitate real-time connections between providers and CSSs for immediate support.
  6. Engage customers through diverse virtual and digital tools, ensuring their requests are met and gathering feedback on engagement quality.
  7. Lead thought leadership initiatives, including organizing speaker programs and local provider discussions.
  8. Business planning: Elevate insights to the ecosystem lead to inform local strategies and goals.

Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have:

  • Experience in commercial life sciences (pharmaceutical or biotechnology) with a focus on key healthcare ecosystem players.
  • A minimum of 4 years in a sales role with HCPs, ideally across multiple products in complex healthcare environments.
  • Clinical nursing or Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) experience is highly regarded.
  • A proven ability to thrive in a transforming environment.
  • A track record of coaching and mentoring peers to achieve their targets.
  • Consistent success in meeting financial and qualitative goals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex clinical information effectively.
  • Knowledge of operational issues related to healthcare product delivery, including reimbursement and supply chain management.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary ranges from a minimum of $99,000 to a maximum of $141,680, supplemented by an annual incentive. This range reflects typical compensation for candidates in this role, influenced by experience and skills.

Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage, along with life insurance, disability coverage, tuition reimbursement, a 401(k) match, paid time off, and additional company benefits.
