IMPACT OF THE IT SYSTEMS ENGINEER ROLE


In this position, you will be part of an engineering team that delivers IT Systems Administration support for global real-time operational activities.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are crucial for addressing operational issues, and effective communication skills are necessary for interacting with team members, users, and leadership.


You should be prepared to work core hours between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm during weekdays and participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours support.


Key Responsibilities:


Provide Tier II support for IT infrastructure systems and specialized mission applications within a mixed Linux and Windows environment.

Create, manage, and maintain user accounts and group memberships in Active Directory, LDAP, TACACS, and KVM.

Manage Windows-based virtual server environments effectively.

Possess hands-on experience with RedHat 5 & 7 and Windows Server 2008, 2016, and Windows 10 in both physical and virtual settings.


Conduct proactive systems monitoring and evaluate environments using Nagios, documenting and resolving or escalating any identified issues.

Oversee daily backup monitoring and troubleshooting using Symantec NetBackup version 8.

Experience with Linux and Windows patch management in an operational context.


Ensure all Linux and Windows systems are equipped with the latest antivirus software and current virus definitions; familiarity with ClamAV and Windows EPO is advantageous.

Collaborate with systems engineers and factory support to troubleshoot and resolve system anomalies.

Engage in special projects as needed.

Education Requirements:

Technical training, certifications, degree, or a combination of education and work experience. 1+ years of experience.

Qualifications:

Must possess an Active TS/SCI with Polygraph and be willing to upgrade to a higher-level polygraph.

Experience in installing and configuring various COTS products.

Experience in providing physical and virtual support, maintenance, and security for Red Hat (RHEL 5 & 7), Sun Solaris, Windows Server 2008 & 2016, and Windows 7/10 Desktop.

Familiarity with Nagios, Active Directory, and NetBackup.

Experience with Authentication and Account Management (Active Directory, DNS, LDAP, TACACS, Local, KVM).

Experience with virtualization technologies (VMWare, ESXi, VCenter).

Experience with SAN (EMC, NAS/DAS).

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in real-time operations/mission systems.

Red Hat Certification.

Knowledge of Automation Concepts (Puppet).

Experience with Splunk, WebLogic, High-Speed Guards, and F5 Load Balancers.

Familiarity with Cisco switches and firewalls.

Experience with SQL database queries and troubleshooting.

Experience with Tape Library/Backups (Symantec NetBackup).

Proficiency in scripting and coding (Bash, PowerShell, Python).

The expected salary range for this position is $76,500 - $103,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary.

Salary will be determined based on experience, geographic location, and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
