Job Title: IVC Response Unit Clinician

Join the City of Durham's Community Safety Department as an IVC Response Unit Clinician, a critical role in our crisis response team. As a clinician, you will work closely with emergency medical technicians (EMTs) to assess individuals in the field, determine if they meet criteria for involuntary commitment, and provide compassionate care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-field first examinations for involuntary commitments
  • Transport individuals to facilities, when possible
  • Develop highly collaborative relationships with crisis response team members
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of DSM5 diagnostic criteria
  • Participate in clinical and administrative supervision, case conferences, and staff meetings

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, or related field
  • Two years of relevant experience
  • Fully licensed professional (LCMHC, LCSW, etc.)
  • Valid North Carolina driver's license
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a high-stress environment
