Job Overview:

The individual in this position will oversee Compliance governance functions, including the coordination of the quarterly Enterprise Risk Assessment for significant compliance risks identified in the inventory. Responsibilities also encompass support for Compliance Risk Assessment, which involves conducting quality assurance reviews, managing, monitoring, and reporting on breaches of Risk Appetite Limits and escalation triggers, as well as change management testing. The role requires responding to requests from Regulatory, Risk Testing, and Internal Audit, maintaining the inventory of legal requirements, and implementing new program processes, metrics, and reporting as necessary to meet the Compliance Program's obligations.

Work Environment:

At Synchrony, we value flexibility and offer various working arrangements. You may choose to work from home, near one of our hubs, or in one of our offices. Occasionally, you may need to visit the nearest office for in-person engagements such as team meetings, training sessions, and cultural events.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Enterprise Risk Assessment (ERA): Act as the compliance point of contact for quarterly assessments concerning Tier 1 Compliance risks.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct quality assurance for Compliance Risk Assessments.
  • Risk Appetite Limit Monitoring: Supervise the newly established Compliance Risk Appetite Statement, which includes monthly monitoring, reporting of breaches, and executing controls over the process.
  • Legal Requirements Inventory: Maintain the inventory of legal requirements, which involves processing workflows, performing data quality reviews, and coordinating bi-weekly maintenance calls.
  • Regulatory and Audit Support: Assist with documentation requests for Regulatory and Internal Audit examinations.
  • Procedure Oversight: Oversee specific procedures and job aids, including initial creation and regular updates.
  • Special Projects: Lead or assist with other special projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience related to governance, risk, and controls within a financial institution; or, in lieu of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience. A minimum of 2 years of experience with advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word is also required.


Preferred Skills:
  • Understanding of regulatory expectations for compliance programs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with cross-functional teams and serve as a trusted business partner.
  • Project and process management skills, with a demonstrated ability to adapt to changing environments and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Familiarity with workflow programs (e.g., Nintex, PowerApp).

Certification: Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) is preferred.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $90,000.00 USD annually, with eligibility for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance. Actual compensation will be determined based on work experience, skill level, and knowledge.

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and be willing to undergo a drug test, background investigation, and fingerprinting as part of the onboarding process.
