Overview:

The Senior Systems Integration Engineer is pivotal in facilitating efficient connectivity and interoperability among medical devices, cloud solutions, and healthcare systems. This role encompasses resolving intricate integration issues, enforcing industry standards, and enhancing data interchange. The ideal candidate will engage with diverse teams to improve product functionality and dependability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Integration Resolution:
    • Analyze and rectify connectivity challenges associated with medical devices and cloud platforms.
    • Diagnose and address issues related to HL7, POCT1A, ASTM, and other pertinent protocols.
    • Resolve TLS-related problems to guarantee secure data transmission.
    • Utilize extensive knowledge of connectivity and device interoperability to tackle complex tasks effectively.
  • Standards Enforcement:
    • Implement and comply with industry standards (HL7, ASTM, etc.) for data exchange.
    • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards (FDA, HIPAA, etc.) concerning medical device integration.
  • Cloud Integration:
    • Collaborate with software development teams to create reliable connections between medical devices and cloud infrastructure.
    • Enhance data flow, latency, and reliability within cloud environments.
  • Linux Proficiency:
    • Effectively operate Linux-based systems for device integration.
    • Troubleshoot Linux-specific connectivity and data exchange issues.
  • Network Management:
    • Set up and maintain network infrastructure for medical devices.
    • Address network-related issues impacting data transmission.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work closely with software engineers, product managers, and quality assurance teams.
    • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
    • Act as a Level 3 escalation resource for resolving customer issues.
    • Develop and oversee the device connectivity strategy for existing products.
    • Establish and maintain an integration lab for testing and ensuring interoperability of releases.
    • Assess current development processes and recommend enhancements.
    • Recognize potential quality impacts stemming from product performance issues.
    • Identify and creatively solve complex problems, making informed decisions under uncertainty.
    • Collaborate with product development teams to align connectivity goals with market needs.
    • Demonstrate strong technical skills and propose multiple solutions to challenges.
    • Exhibit professional conduct that positively reflects the company’s values and policies.
    • Fulfill additional responsibilities as required by the evolving business landscape.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in delivering solutions for the Medical Device sector.
  • Over 10 years of experience in systems and/or software development focusing on connected device interoperability.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (Master's preferred).

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with hospital EMR systems such as Epic or Cerner.
  • Experience with healthcare middleware systems.
  • Knowledge of communication technologies: Wi-Fi, Ethernet, wireless, Bluetooth, TCP/IP.
  • Experience in testing communication interfaces across wired and wireless networks.
  • Familiarity with healthcare communication protocols (e.g., ASTM, HL7, POCT1A, ADT, FHIR).
  • Experience with integration frameworks.
  • Understanding of network protocols, integration testing, and cybersecurity.
  • Knowledge of Medical Device regulations.
  • Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in delivering products for the Medical Device IVD sector.
  • Familiarity with testing techniques for cloud solutions.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Good understanding of TLS/HTTPS REST/SOAP protocols.
  • Knowledge of OAuth 2.0/Open ID Connect protocols.
