**Business Unit Overview:**
The Optical Communications division has transitioned from merely producing optical fiber and cable, hardware, and equipment to becoming a comprehensive provider of top-tier optical solutions across the wider communications sector. This division is divided into two primary product categories: carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network category primarily includes products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure supporting services such as video, data, and voice communications. The enterprise network category mainly consists of optical-based communication networks marketed to businesses, government entities, and individuals for personal use.
**Role Overview:**
On-Site Technical Specialists deliver both on-site and remote technical support globally to internal and external clients, assisting with field projects, training sessions, corporate manufacturing facilities, Product Line Management, and Commercial Sales and Marketing.
**Essential Qualifications:**
- Bachelor of Science Degree in a technical discipline such as Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related fields from an accredited institution. (Engineering degrees in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or similar areas are preferred).
- Ability to accurately distinguish colors, a crucial skill for this position.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Capability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, working efficiently in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and composure at all times.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Proficiency in technical writing, focusing on the effective presentation of complex concepts.
- Familiarity with construction and project management processes.
- Relevant work experience and/or military background in telecommunications.
- Previous supervisory or functional management experience or training.
- Fluency in Spanish, French, or Portuguese (both written and spoken) is advantageous.
**Daily Responsibilities:**
- Master optical testing and splicing equipment and procedures necessary for leading projects.
- Travel to client locations to install, test, and document fiber optic communication systems.
- Act as a Project Leader, responsible for coordinating and executing all aspects of fiber optic network installations.
- Conduct fiber optic training sessions at various Corning facilities, regional sites, and client locations.
- Provide technical support to internal and external clients via the Technical Support Line.
**Travel Expectations:**
Up to 60% travel may be required.
**Compensation and Benefits:**
The salary range for this position is $57,000 to $78,722.00, contingent upon full-time status. The starting salary for the successful candidate will depend on various job-related factors, including geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance, disability benefits, and paid time off, depending on hours worked.
