About the Role

The American Heart Association is seeking a highly skilled State Government Relations Director to join our team in Montana and Wyoming. As a key member of our advocacy team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with state government officials, developing and implementing advocacy strategies, and advancing our public policy agenda.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement advocacy strategies to advance our public policy agenda in Montana and Wyoming.
  • Build and maintain relationships with state government officials, including members of the state legislature and their staff.
  • Monitor and analyze state-level legislative and regulatory issues, and provide recommendations to our advocacy team.
  • Develop and implement grassroots and media advocacy tactics to build support for our advocacy issues.
  • Collaborate with our communications team to develop and implement media advocacy strategies.
  • Provide policy research and analysis to support our advocacy efforts.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with coalition partners and other stakeholders to advance our advocacy agenda.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in public policy, political science, law, or a related field.
  • Three years of experience in legislative and regulatory lobbying, with a focus on state-level issues.
  • Three years of experience building and managing issue advocacy coalitions.
  • Three years of experience developing and implementing grassroots and media advocacy tactics.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Policy analysis and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
