We are currently in search of an energetic and innovative leader to guide a team of public service professionals at the Dongan Hills Library. This branch, with over 42,000 annual visits, plays a vital role in serving the diverse needs of the Dongan Hills community by offering a wide array of books, information, and resources.
The Library Manager will be responsible for cultivating a collaborative environment that prioritizes exceptional customer service and embraces change. The ideal candidate will possess strong management capabilities and a comprehensive understanding of the operational and programmatic aspects of urban public libraries.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the branch, including information services, circulation, outreach, and programming.
- Act as the hiring manager, responsible for staff development, evaluation, training, and adherence to Library policies.
- Ensure the branch is well-maintained, including layout, furniture procurement, and operational budgeting.
- Develop strategies to enhance user experience, utilizing statistics to tailor services to community needs.
- Establish partnerships with local businesses and organizations to strengthen community relations.
- Collaborate with programming teams to create and implement innovative community programs.
- Maintain and update the Library's collection profile, ensuring it meets community demands.
- Focus on delivering outstanding customer service and addressing patron concerns effectively.
- Work with the Library Network Manager and other departments to enhance service quality and maintain technology.
- Engage in professional development and stay informed on public library trends.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Required Education, Experience & Skills
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Extensive experience in public libraries with demonstrated administrative and leadership skills.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality public services.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Experience in supervising, training, and mentoring staff.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and implement effective solutions.
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Creativity and flexibility in addressing community and staff needs.

- Knowledge of library policies and emerging technologies.
- Proficient in computer applications and technology.
Managerial Responsibilities
- Responsible for hiring and managing all branch staff.
- Oversee programmatic and supplies budget for the branch.
- Monitor personnel budget.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Library and Information Studies from an ALA accredited program.
- Experience in community training, programming, and outreach.
