Job Title: Lead Tutor and Program Coordinator

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Tutor to join our team at the New York Public Library. As a Lead Tutor, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our after-school program, providing academic support to elementary grade students, and collaborating with branch staff to develop and implement enrichment activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily procedures at sites, including administrative tasks, collaborating with branch staff, and managing logistics.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the program, communicating with parents, caregivers, and staff.
  • Develop and implement enrichment activities for students, working in small groups to provide academic support and foster personal growth.
  • Collaborate with Teen Reading Ambassador Pages and other branch staff to implement programs and activities.
  • Attend regular staff meetings to discuss program evaluation and share best practices.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience working in education or a related field, with a focus on working with children and teens.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Ability to speak foreign languages preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program, with at least two or more years completed or equivalent experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Work Environment:

This position will be based in a New York Public Library branch library, with occasional travel within NYC.

Physical Duties:

This role requires limited physical effort and may involve standing for extended periods.
