FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Core Responsibilities

The Field Service Technician is essential in delivering technical assistance and support to clients in the field, as well as providing internal support within the organization. Acting as the company's representative, the Field Service Technician is pivotal in ensuring customer satisfaction and uncovering additional sales prospects.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Installation, initiation, and repair of Polyurethane Processing Equipment at client sites.
  • Conducts preventive maintenance on the same equipment.
  • Offers system training to clients on maintenance, operation, and programming as necessary.
  • Completes all job-related documentation and submits it to the Service Administrator/Supervisor weekly, including expense and service reports.
  • Maintains daily communication with the supervisor/Service Administrator and/or customer service representatives, providing timely updates on job-related progress and schedules.
  • Utilizes downtime effectively during office periods, which may involve customer phone support and other internal projects.
  • Identifies improvements or issues in equipment design and software, reporting them to engineering/customer service as needed.
  • Consistently upholds a clean and professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Establishes and nurtures effective relationships across the organization to create a dedicated support network.
  • Completes tasks as directed by management.

Travel Requirements: This position involves travel approximately 50% to 70% of the time.

Position Qualifications

  • Mechanical/Electrical Technical Expertise.
  • Strong background in hydraulics and controls, including a working knowledge of PLCs.
  • Effective communication and computer skills are essential; experience in the Urethane Industry is highly advantageous.
  • Ability to read and comprehend both mechanical and electrical schematics.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Proficient troubleshooting skills and capability to work independently with minimal technical support.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience troubleshooting Industrial Equipment.
  • Experience in an industrial setting.

Functional Skills

  • Willingness to travel 50% to 70% of the time.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy components.
  • Good manual dexterity and use of both hands.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of communicating effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear, step-by-step instructions.
  • Highly organized and able to present ideas in a structured manner.

Experience in the Urethane Industry is a plus.
