Position Overview: The Human Services Assistant III role is a specialist position within the Human Services Assistant occupational group. This position serves as the primary contact for clients seeking assistance and evaluates their eligibility for various services and benefits. Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts screenings for clients to determine eligibility for services;
  • Engages with clients to explain available programs, services, and policies;
  • Assists clients in completing necessary applications;
  • Evaluates and approves service providers associated with the agency;
  • Researches and compiles relevant information;
  • Acts as the first point of contact for applicants;
  • Interviews applicants for various assistance programs;
  • Provides detailed information on program eligibility, policies, and procedures;
  • Facilitates the application process and performs initial assessments;
  • Offers guidance to clients seeking services and makes appropriate referrals;
  • Utilizes databases to verify information for application processing;
  • Keeps accurate logs of client documentation;
  • Coordinates appointments for clients with relevant staff;
  • Communicates with clients to gather necessary information and answer inquiries;
  • Analyzes client needs and coordinates resources to support families;
  • Generates payments for services when applicable;
  • Conducts assessments for emergency needs;
  • Prepares reports and statistics as required;
  • Assists in training and orienting new staff members.
Additional Responsibilities in Specialized Areas:
  • Conducts searches for adoption through various records and makes initial contacts;
  • Assists with financial billings and payments related to subsidies;
  • Prepares financial and statistical reports, case documentation, and court reports;
  • Facilitates supervised visitations;
  • Coordinates community events such as seasonal programs and unit activities.
Qualifications:

Knowledge: Strong understanding of customer service principles, English language structure, and administrative procedures. Familiarity with human behavior, eligibility requirements for programs, and community resources is essential.

Skills: Proficient in operating office equipment and utilizing software for word processing and data management.

Abilities: Effective communication with clients, strong organizational skills, and the ability to establish professional relationships are crucial. Must be capable of conducting interviews and making informed decisions based on established criteria.

Education and Experience: A high school diploma with additional coursework in social work, human services, or a related field, along with relevant experience in public administrative support, is required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Special Requirements:
