POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Building Management Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and directing the preconstruction, installation, and commissioning of Building Management Systems (BMS) for advanced facility construction projects. This role is primarily on-site.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the Building Management System (BMS) scope of work, managing submittals and shop drawing reviews in collaboration with the owner's representatives and engineers.
  • Collaborate with the BMS project team and subcontractors to ensure effective system installations.
  • Monitor the quality and progress of construction documents from assigned BMS subcontractors.
  • Understand and manage BMS contracts, scopes, and trade budgets, ensuring clarity in responsibilities.
  • Handle change orders related to BMS/Controls with subcontractors.
  • Coordinate with the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) Engineering team for low voltage communications among systems.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with contract documents and approved plans.
  • Track BMS trade budgets and coordinate financial projections with the project Cost Analyst.
  • Ensure adherence to site-specific safety plans with subcontractors.
  • Review monthly payment requests from BMS subcontractors.
  • Participate in coordination and commissioning meetings to align project activities.
  • Manage the timely release of materials and equipment for fabrication.
  • Oversee project closeout, securing necessary guarantees and agreements for BMS systems.
  • Implement Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) programs with contractors.
  • Attend manufacturer site visits and oversee Factory Witness Tests as required.
  • Assist in the startup and commissioning phases, ensuring effective communication to meet project timelines.
  • Supervise BMS team members, participating in the hiring process and providing performance feedback.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 6 years of experience in construction design and field installations of substantial Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Experience with Data Center or Complex Building Controls Systems is essential.
  • Familiarity with environmental and electrical monitoring and controls is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret contract documents, drawings, and project schedules.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective time management skills in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Limited travel may be required.
