SUMMARY:

The Millwork Engineer collaborates closely with the Engineering Manager, fellow Engineers, Project Managers, and Shop Production Manager, as well as shop fabricators. This role is responsible for integrating redlines and field measurements to create production-ready drawings for the manufacturing floor. This includes generating CNC machine drawings as required to facilitate the workflow.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Engage with Production and Project Management to provide updates on project progress and any necessary changes.
  • Coordinate with team members regarding project timelines and upcoming assignments.
  • Address specific production needs or challenges, providing timely notifications of potential obstacles or missed deadlines.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Engineering teams to resolve conflicts and ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Stay informed about field conditions and update fabrication drawings accordingly.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of materials and hardware utilized in the approved scope of work.
  • Employ AutoCAD and Microvellum to prepare drawings for production release and subcontractor fabrication.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of all work prior to release.
  • Evaluate subcontractor drawings for submittals.
  • Support team members with inquiries and challenges.
  • Manage material take-offs for ordering and inventory management.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Engineering Manager.

Supervisory Role:

This position does not entail direct supervisory responsibilities but provides assistance and guidance to team members with their inquiries and concerns.

Physical Requirements:

This role is primarily sedentary; however, some filing tasks are necessary, requiring the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as needed. Occasional site visits for field measurements may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Wood Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5-10 years of experience in architectural millwork, custom wood manufacturing, or a comparable field.
  • Familiarity with Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) Standards.
  • Experience with Microvellum Toolbox.
  • Proficient AutoCAD drafting skills specific to millwork.
  • Experience in CNC manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of millwork production methods, fabrication techniques, and materials.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and blueprints.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, with intermediate skills in Excel.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution capabilities.
  • Experience with millwork production methods and fabrication techniques.
