Job Overview

SUMMARY:

The Senior Engineer collaborates closely with the Engineering Manager, fellow Engineers, Project Managers, and Production Managers, overseeing various tasks including the integration of redlines and field measurements to create production-ready drawings for manufacturing. This role also involves generating CNC machine drawings as required for project execution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage with Production and Project Management to provide updates on project progress and any necessary changes.
  • Coordinate with team members regarding project timelines and forthcoming assignments.
  • Address specific production needs or challenges and proactively communicate any potential delays.
  • Work in tandem with Operations and Engineering teams to resolve conflicts and ensure timely project completion.
  • Stay informed about field conditions and adjust fabrication drawings as needed.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of materials and hardware essential for the approved scope of work.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and Microvellum for preparing drawings for production and subcontractor fabrication.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of all work prior to final release.
  • Evaluate subcontractor drawings for submissions.
  • Support team members with inquiries and challenges.
  • Manage material take-offs for inventory ordering.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Engineering Manager.

Supervisory Role:

Physical Requirements:

This role is primarily sedentary, though some filing may be necessary, requiring the ability to lift files, open cabinets, and stand or bend as needed. Occasional site visits for field measurements may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Wood Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5-10 years of experience in architectural millwork, custom wood manufacturing, or a comparable field.
  • Familiarity with Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) Standards.
  • Experience with Microvellum Toolbox.
  • Proficient AutoCAD drafting skills in millwork.
  • Background in CNC manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of millwork production methods and fabrication techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Able to read and interpret architectural drawings and blueprints.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution capabilities.
  • Experience with millwork production methods and fabrication techniques.
