Audit Specialist

The City of Richmond's Office of the City Auditor is in search of a highly skilled individual to take on the role of Audit Specialist.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading and supervising audit teams
- Developing audit engagement plans by identifying existing risks and determining testing methods
- Conducting interviews, comprehending business operations, identifying risks, analyzing controls, and formulating work steps
- Utilizing logical reasoning to define issues, gather data, establish facts, and draw sound conclusions
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of auditing standards and practices, audit management, and finance/accounting software. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, along with effective research, prioritization, and time management abilities.
Capability to review, evaluate, analyze, and document business processes; manage multiple responsibilities; and assess and review risks.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, public administration, economics, or a related discipline.
A minimum of one year of internal auditing experience in government, non-profit, or private sectors.
An equivalent combination of education and experience (as approved by the department) may be considered to meet the minimum qualifications.
Licensing, Certifications, and/or Other Special Requirements:

Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven ability to lead audit teams
- Advanced analytical and data mining capabilities
- Experience with audit software
- Certification as a CPA, CIA, or CISA
