Role Overview:

The Medical Director plays a pivotal role in supporting the operations of Enterprise Clinical Services, which is responsible for the initial clinical assessment of service requests. This position involves close collaboration with leadership and staff to establish, implement, and maintain clinical and operational processes that ensure quality improvement and cost-effectiveness in service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough coverage assessments based on individual member benefits and established review policies.
  • Document clinical review findings and actions in compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Engage in peer-to-peer discussions with requesting providers as necessary.
  • Interpret existing benefit language and policies effectively during clinical reviews.
  • Participate in daily clinical rounds as required.
  • Collaborate with network and non-network providers to ensure accurate and timely benefit determinations.
  • Work closely with internal partners to enhance service delivery.
  • Participate in call coverage rotation.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Active, unrestricted medical license.
  • Board certification in an ABMS specialty, preferably in Hematology-Oncology, General Surgery, Rheumatology, Internal Medicine, or PM&R.
  • A minimum of 5 years of clinical practice experience post-residency.
  • Strong understanding of Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Preferred:

  • Licensure in CA, OR, WA, or AZ, or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience in clinical coverage review and utilization management.
  • Exceptional communication and facilitation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills for data interpretation.
  • Innovative problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent presentation skills for diverse audiences.

Work Environment:
