Staff Accountant Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Update and maintain inventory valuations in accordance with IFRS, including daily cost rolls for new products/variants and an annual plant-wide cost roll.
  • Prepare cost reports, analyze cost structures, and perform cost variance analysis to identify trends and discrepancies.
  • Develop and implement cost control measures and strategies to optimize financial performance. Ensure accurate allocation of costs across various products.
  • Analyze inventory reconciliation at month-end, researching variances as needed. Support the coordination of the annual physical inventory.
  • Participate in the month-end financial close process, including journal entry preparation and account reconciliations.
  • Record intercompany transactions, post payments, and support sister companies with reporting.
  • Prepare and distribute daily sales reports, validating to the general ledger and reconciling any differences. At month-end, finalize sales reporting and support the updates to the global reporting system.
  • Prepare and analyze weekly productivity reports. Provide other production-related reports as requested by management.
  • Support budgeting & forecasting processes and assist in providing financial analysis to support various departments.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior leadership team members to identify their needs; seek to provide finance/accounting team support.
  • Continuously seek improvements supporting ASSA ABLOY's strategic objectives.

Requirements:

  • B.S. in Accounting or a similar field.
  • 2 – 3 years of accounting experience, with an emphasis on cost accounting, reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Strong Excel spreadsheet capabilities. Business Objects, HFM, and JDE proficiency preferred.
  • Very high attention to detail, good organizational skills, good communication skills, reacts well to time pressure, comfortable working in a plant environment, and motivated to learn all aspects of the manufacturing operation.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to focus on details, as necessary.
