Job Title: Events Strategist

Are you a detail-oriented and organized individual with a passion for event planning? Do you have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure? We are seeking a highly motivated Events Strategist to join our team at the Texas Department of Transportation.

About the Role:

The Events Strategist will assist the conference governance planning team with statewide conference planning, helping all divisions within the Texas Department of Transportation execute successful conferences using a streamlined cost-saving process. This role requires strong customer service skills, the ability to build rapport and trust with TxDOT employees and external stakeholders, and a focus on meeting deadlines while finding creative ways to reach the agency's goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Compile and distribute relevant division conference information, including project status reports, and provide regular updates to management, project teams, and others.
  • Work on creating event pages on the CVENT website/app for division conferences, including the Texas Transportation Short Course and the Texas Transportation Forum.
  • Collaborate with the Creative Services team within the Communications Division to ensure deadlines are met and executed with a customer service-oriented mentality.
  • Assist a small team by serving as a resource for operational updates to the supervisor/manager, providing regular updates.
  • Develop detailed schedules by work breakdown structure and resource assignments and manage integrated project schedules to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Analyze project issues and develop solutions to meet productivity, quality, and client satisfaction goals and objectives.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in communications, government, business management, public relations, or a related discipline.
  • 2 years of experience in communications, project coordination, project management, or conference event planning.
  • Valid driver's license, as this position requires driving a state vehicle.
