Position OverviewThe Anesthesia Technician plays a vital role in assisting anesthesia providers under the guidance of the Chief of Anesthesiology or their designee. This position requires adherence to the legal scope of practice and established standards of care, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with anesthesia providers to develop and implement anesthesia care plans.
- Perform patient care activities considering age-related needs, assisting with direct care for various patient demographics including infants, children, adults, and the elderly.
- Independently manage daily tasks such as setting up and assisting with non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring, anesthesia induction, and emergency procedures.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations alongside the anesthesia care team.
- Prepare and apply patient warming devices as necessary.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to policy development.
- Oversee the completion of patient care tasks and manage work assignments efficiently.
- Assemble anesthesia airway setups and prepare machines for specific patient needs.
- Utilize sterile techniques to assist with invasive monitoring equipment during routine and emergency situations.
- Collect lab specimens and perform quality assurance for Point of Care testing equipment.
- Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure the availability of patient monitoring equipment.
- Facilitate prompt room turnover in collaboration with the perioperative team.
- Assist anesthesia providers with patient preparation and the administration of medications during procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Participate in professional development and mentorship of anesthesia students.
- Support a collaborative work environment and uphold patient confidentiality.
Basic Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Anesthesia Technology program with an Associate's degree or certification from the American Society of Technologists and Technicians (ASATT).
- High School Diploma.
- IV Certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
- Anesthesia Technician Certificate from ASATT.
- Basic Life Support certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a Cardiac OR or Level 1 trauma center.
- Associate Degree.
