Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and accomplished Associate Chair of Clinical Operations and Professor to join our team at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight to our clinical operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and advancing our mission to improve health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management: Provide direct leadership and management to clinical faculty, setting productivity and quality goals, metrics, and milestones.
  • Clinic Operations: Monitor clinic utilization, schedules, and services, and strategically plan and implement clinic expansion while maintaining cost-effective services with high-quality patient satisfaction.
  • Documentation and Billing: Ensure appropriate documentation and billing, and achieve productivity standards in the department to ensure efficiency and compliance with all coding and documentation requirements.
  • Performance Management: Review the performance of medical directors and other key management staff, making recommendations regarding individual goal setting and development opportunities, and measuring progress against established goals and objectives.
  • Clinical Program Development: Ensure leadership in the development, implementation, and promotion of departmental clinical programs designed to deliver patient care that is safe, personal, coordinated, and of the highest quality and value.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with faculty within and across departments, as well as with the hospital and practice plan, to develop annual and long-term plans for improving healthcare quality, safety, and value.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate with other departments and partner hospitals to ensure that clinical care and documentation meet regulatory requirements.
  • Clinical Guidelines and Protocols: Work with existing hospital or departmental infrastructure and support personnel to develop, refine, and integrate clinical guidelines, pathways, protocols, order sets, and decision support tools.
  • Clinical Presence: Maintain a strong clinical presence with direct interaction with physicians, patients, and staff, and maintain an active clinical practice.
  • Cost Analysis and Partnerships: Analyze costs and opportunities related to programs and associated practice locations, and provide clinical presence in relationships with healthcare systems and providers to assist operations in securing partnerships and care for more patients.
  • Goal Achievement: Be responsible for achieving and maintaining mutually developed clinical operations goals and metrics.
  • Quality Improvement: Illustrate principles and practice of quality improvement, patient safety, process improvement, and cost-effectiveness in regular interdisciplinary, inter-professional clinical care conferences.
About the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville

The University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville is the largest of the three colleges at the Health Science Center Jacksonville. The college is affiliated with UF Health in Jacksonville, a health system comprised of two hospitals - the 603-bed UF Health Jacksonville and 92-bed UF Health North - and more than 60 primary and specialty care practices throughout Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.

The college's 16 clinical science departments house more than 440 faculty members, 1,560 staff, and 384 residents and fellows, as well as medical students from UF and around the country. Clinical rotations in all major disciplines are provided on campus for students from the UF College of Medicine. Third-year medical students enrolled at UF spend about 25 percent of their training at the Jacksonville campus, gaining valuable experience in an urban setting.

The college offers a continuing medical education program that recruits national and international speakers who are well known and respected in their fields. The college's faculty, residents, and fellows are active in clinical research. The campus houses a 16,000-square-foot clinical and translational research facility. To support faculty and resident research, the college has a Center for Data Solutions, offering researchers analytics, epidemiology, and biostatistics support, and a Center for Research Training, helping develop the next generation of highly collaborative clinical researchers.
