Position Summary

Little Rapids Corporation seeks a dedicated Safety Leader to champion our commitment to a secure and healthy work environment. This role will be instrumental in developing and implementing safety initiatives across the organization, fostering a culture where safety is paramount.

Objectives and Deliverables

  • Establish a comprehensive safety strategy, ensuring it is understood and embraced by all levels of the organization.
  • Design and lead impactful safety programs, systems, and initiatives to minimize hazards and prevent injuries.
  • Benchmark best practices within the industry and implement innovative solutions, such as behavior-based safety programs.
  • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of our safety programs and continuously refine our approach.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to safety professionals and operations leaders, empowering them to champion safety within their teams.
  • Lead efforts to reduce workers' compensation costs through effective claims management.
  • Ensure Little Rapids Corporation remains compliant with all applicable state and federal regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Drive organizational initiatives related to audits, inspections, and training programs.
  • Manage all internal and external safety reporting and communication channels.

Key Results

  • Achieve desired outcomes for all safety initiatives and goals.
  • Develop a robust 3-5 year safety roadmap through collaboration and buy-in across the organization.
  • Cultivate a team of highly skilled safety professionals and operations leaders who are proactive in identifying, mitigating, and eliminating risks and incidents.
  • Enhance associate engagement across all business operations.

Education, Certifications, and Experience

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field is preferred.
  • Relevant safety certifications, such as CSP, ASP, OHST, or SMS, are highly desirable.
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership/supervisory experience within an industrial setting.
  • Experience supporting multi-site operations is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with union environments is preferred.
  • Experience in a family or privately held business is beneficial.
  • A background in environmental health and safety is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and working knowledge of various systems and applications.
