About the Role:
The Inventory Accounting Manager is a key member of the accounting team at Navy Times, responsible for overseeing the inventory team and driving improved controls and efficiencies in the inventory accounting process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the month-end close process, ensuring a smooth and timely completion.
- Develop and implement process improvements, maintaining compliance on key business processes.
- Analyze month-end reports for variances to forecast and budget, and follow up on unusual variances to ensure understanding.
- Support process flow initiatives conducted by Supply Chain, ensuring accurate accounting and valuation of inventory.
- Assist with merchandising/planning partners in analyzing aging of inventory.
- Review cost reports, gross margin reporting, and variance analysis.
- Inventory receipt tracking and analysis.
- Leverage an understanding of finance and accounting pertaining to sales, inventory, COGS, and margin analysis.
- Map and understand transactional inventory process flows.
- Inventory, general ledger, and/or supply chain support.
- Present results to business partners.
- Support and provide auditors with costing documents for annual audit.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in a retail, manufacturing, and/or consumer products industry and in Inventory Systems.
- Technically savvy with a strong understanding of Microsoft Office.
- Strong analysis skills.
- Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work with a sense of urgency, accuracy, teamwork, and cooperation in a high-volume environment.
- Experience in leading and personally driving change and implementing best practices.
- Strong communication skills; able to convey a message that is clear and concise linking business issues, financial results, and strategy.
- Experience with AS400, Oracle Accounting systems a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, preferred.
