About the Role

The Managing Director is responsible for successfully running all aspects of the business, including:

  • Building sales and identifying opportunities
  • Client development and service
  • Coaching and counseling of staff
  • Operational controls

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in luxury retail and experience in managing high-volume stores. They will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the management team and ensuring they are well-informed, trained, and aligned in approach
  • Providing strategy for team motivation and orchestrating change as needed
  • Driving results through excellent people management
  • Maintaining high morale and a drive to achieve results

The Managing Director will also be responsible for:

  • Providing timely, thoughtful, and appropriate analysis of business opportunities and the corresponding strategy for development
  • Managing the buying process, including preparation, strategy, and execution
  • Ensuring the highest level of service and coaching staff for increased performance
  • Conducting and supervising the monthly touch base sales coaching process
  • Addressing all issues affecting the boutique in a timely and thoughtful manner

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum 5 years prior store management experience or flagship assistant store manager experience
  • Previous buying experience relating to managing director responsibility
  • Individual management of multi-person teams
  • Prior reporting functions to executive management and merchant levels

The Managing Director will be responsible for:

  • Managing the P&L and sales goals
  • Ensuring inventory results
  • Full responsibility for training of staff, communication, and adherence to policy
  • Maintaining active HR notes on team performance and writing annual evaluations for direct reports

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong sense of personal style and passion for the brand and heritage
  • Sensitivity to a multi-cultural environment and experience working with French or other European brands
  • Exceptional merchant with previous buying experience and strength in managing the buying process
  • A sense of humor and a humble nature

The Managing Director will be responsible for:

  • Managing stock for qualitative and quantitative maintenance
  • Working closely with the VM team to ensure exceptional standards are always respected
  • Being fully aware of market trends and ensuring floor managers conduct regular competitive shopping

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong ability to motivate and maintain morale of the team
  • A good delegator with excellent follow-up skills
  • Able to truly empower other managers
