Patient Registration Specialist

The Patient Registration Representative will perform various duties in a fast-paced environment, maintaining accuracy and efficiency. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Key Responsibilities:- Enter patient demographic and insurance information accurately into the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Register telemedicine patients through the EMR system.
- Serve as the primary contact between patients and medical personnel.
- Greet patients upon arrival with a friendly demeanor and helpful attitude.
- Confirm insurance eligibility and collect co-pays and balances due at the time of registration.
- Reconcile payments at the end of each shift and address accounts that are past due.
- Answer incoming phone calls and forward to the appropriate parties.
- Interpret billing statements and post incoming Account Receivables payments.
- Participate in mandatory trainings and attend staff meetings.
- Assist in opening and closing the building to receive patients.
- Fax and/or email confirmed lab results to the appropriate parties.
- Request pre-authorization of credit cards and set up installment payment plans.
- Practice and promote positive customer and peer relations.
- Maintain a clean work environment.
- Report all parent/patient complaints to the manager in a timely manner.
- Computer literacy (log in, log out, search engines, etc.).
- Knowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Strong telephone and in-person communication skills.
- Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and PHI (Protected Health Information) laws/regulations.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Ability to type 40 WPM with 90% accuracy.
- One year experience in patient registration (preferred).
- One year experience with health insurance (preferred).
