Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Kentucky's Department of Workforce Development is seeking a highly skilled Workforce Development Specialist II to join our team. As a key member of our workforce development team, you will play a critical role in providing employment support services to veterans and advocating for job development and training opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide employment support services to veterans determined to be job ready by Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Specialists.
  • Advocate for job development, job training, and employment opportunities for veterans.
  • Explain programs and requirements of other workforce partners and refer work-ready veterans to businesses and monitor to ensure veterans receive priority of service.
  • Assist businesses/employers with posting vacant positions and follow-up with employers.
  • Maintain veterans' statistical information and report any issues.
  • Provide training to American Job Center staff and other partner staff on the duties of the Jobs for Veterans State Grant staff.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • One year of experience in reviewing, monitoring, determining eligibility for, and/or administering employment service or unemployment insurance programs, or experience in education, public administration, business, human services, military, human resources, or a related field.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
  • Military experience.

This position will have access to confidential and sensitive information. The successful candidate will be required to ensure the safeguarding and security of all confidential and sensitive information and will be required to complete trainings, sign acknowledgements, follow all policies, and adhere to all statutes and requirements pertaining to the safeguarding and security of confidential and sensitive information while employed and after employment ends.
