Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Assistant to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repair work on structures and equipment, ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee Hospital Construction Inventory and Warehouse, ensuring accurate tracking and inventory control.
  • Control construction inventory and warehouse locations, maintaining a safe and organized environment.
  • Create and manage Excel spreadsheets of received material and inventory, providing accurate records and reports.
  • Maintain warehouse and storage areas integrity for safety and cleanliness, resolving any issues as needed.
  • Operate heavy, powered equipment (Hi-Lo, hand jacks, etc.), ensuring safe and efficient use.
  • Maintain and enforce standard safety protocols throughout, promoting a culture of safety and compliance.
  • Schedule, perform routine and preventative maintenance on powered and non-powered equipment, ensuring optimal performance and extending equipment lifespan.
  • Oversee the break down & restocking of all incoming construction inventory, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Place stock to be stored in large and/or heavy cases on warehouse shelving, maintaining a safe and organized environment.
  • Check all delivery's against packing slips to assure correct amounts and document item location, ensuring accurate inventory tracking.
  • Deliver requisitioned supplies to the hospital's construction projects and warehouse, providing timely and efficient service.
  • Oversee construction and warehouse inventory, ensuring accurate tracking and control.
  • Assist with conducting physical inventory, providing accurate records and reports.
Requirements
  • Two years of experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled trade's worker or completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course.
  • Valid NYS Driver's License.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Candidate should have a valid Powered Industrial Truck Operator Permit.
  • Knowledge of Warehouse inventory protocols.
  • Knowledge of Construction inventory supplies.
  • Working knowledge of inventory reconciliation.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Capable of lifting over 50 lbs.
  • Experience working and creating Excel spreadsheets.
