Healthcare Administrative Specialist

Duke University is seeking a skilled Healthcare Administrative Specialist to join our HomeCare, Hospice, and Infusion Services (DHCH) team. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating referrals, managing patient orders, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
Job SummaryThis is a full-time position that requires excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide compassionate care to our patients and their families.
Responsibilities- Coordinates internal and external referrals for DHCH, ensuring timely and accurate processing of patient orders
- Provides initial intake of provider orders, with no direct patient care responsibilities
- Participates in weekly team meetings and case conferences to facilitate appropriate services for patients
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A Practical Nurse degree from an accredited program
- 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in medical referral coordination or a related field
- Strong knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in software applications relevant to the role
The estimated salary range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
