The Trauma and Surgical Intensive Care Unit at our esteemed institution presents a variety of rewarding opportunities for delivering exceptional patient care within the region's only Level I Trauma Center. Our 20-bed unit caters to a diverse patient population, including many with complex trauma injuries, alongside a considerable number of neurosurgery and general surgery cases. This unit fosters a stimulating environment for professional growth, guided by trauma and critical care specialists. Our team is actively engaged in multiple committees aimed at improving patient care and enhancing the workplace, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based practices and research initiatives. Additionally, nursing staff in this unit receive specialized training to support operations in the area's exclusive Burn Center.

  • Core Responsibilities of Patient Care Technicians:
  • Delivering essential patient care under the supervision of nursing staff, which includes monitoring patients, documenting vital signs, conducting EKGs, and communicating any changes in patient conditions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a Nurse Aide training program and possession of a valid Nurse Aide Certification. Certifications for Patient Care Assistants or Patient Care Technicians may also be considered.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.

For Nursing Assistants:

Nursing Assistants are responsible for providing fundamental patient care under the guidance of nursing personnel, including duties such as patient monitoring, vital sign documentation, EKG administration, and reporting any alterations in patient conditions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Nursing students who have completed approximately 25% of their nursing education (LVN or RN) with relevant clinical experience OR individuals with a minimum of one year of recent experience as a Nurse Aide in a hospital setting.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is essential.
