Polysomnography Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the guidance of the Cardiopulmonary Manager and/or Sleep Lab Supervisor, the individual will conduct and assess diagnostic tests aimed at identifying various sleep and neurological conditions. This role involves delivering patient care services for adult, pediatric, and neonatal populations.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
REGULATORY STANDARDS:
Candidates who do not possess the Registered Polysomnographic Technician (RPSGT) or Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT) credentials must achieve one of these certifications within one year of employment. For those with Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) qualifications, the Sleep Disorder Specialist (SDS) credential is an acceptable substitute and should be obtained within six months of employment if not already acquired. Individuals without any of the aforementioned credentials will work under the direct supervision of credentialed personnel until the required certifications are obtained.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
No specific qualifications are required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of two years of college with a focus on health sciences or current enrollment in a health sciences program is desirable. A minimum of one year of experience in polysomnography is preferred. Training in EEG techniques is also advantageous.
