Research Scientist

The Research Associate, Laboratory Sciences role plays a vital part in the daily operations of the Laboratory Sciences department. Key responsibilities include equipment maintenance, stocking supplies, and general cleaning. Additionally, the successful candidate will support and perform data collection activities, including qPCR, DNA isolation, ligand binding assays, and flow cytometry, as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintain laboratory equipment and perform routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning and stocking supplies.
- Prepare materials for analytical assays, such as animal blood and tissues, and perform the assays according to Protocol or other guiding documents with accurate documentation.
- Ensure the chain of custody for specimens, reagents, controls, and samples in the laboratory is maintained and documented.
- Update facility records related to the laboratory and its analyses.
- Review laboratory records, procedures, and study data for completeness and accuracy.
- Document deviations to laboratory procedures and study protocols and unforeseen circumstances in a timely manner and provide input for corrective actions.
- Assist in the calibration, optimization, maintenance, and collection of data from analytical instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, software manuals, study documents, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Associates degree in a scientific discipline, Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 1 year of relevant laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to perform light work, including moving objects up to 20 pounds.
