The Field Service Organization (FSO) plays a vital role in the implementation and upkeep of sophisticated communication systems at client sites.
Job Description
The responsibilities of this role include a variety of technical tasks such as the installation, optimization, and maintenance of infrastructure, public safety loggers, subscriber units, microwave systems, computers, servers, and networking equipment. The FSO works in close partnership with public safety clients, system administrators, engineers, sales personnel, project coordinators, system specialists, and service partners to ensure successful task completion. The department operates continuously to provide essential support for critical systems serving our public safety clientele.
- Oversee, enhance, document, and manage advanced Motorola communication systems.
- Prioritize maintaining optimal performance across integrated systems while proactively addressing and resolving system alarms and issues.
- Ensure system reliability through regular maintenance, performance assessments, and preventative measures.
- Conduct preventative maintenance to guarantee system functionality, focusing on trend analysis and documenting outcomes.
- Support and optimize complex communication systems and software applications, including advanced troubleshooting of software-driven electronics and provisioning of communication infrastructure.
- Provide expertise in RF systems, including transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks.
- Demonstrate knowledge of standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet switching methodologies.
- Stay updated on the latest technologies and troubleshooting methods for current digital and analog Motorola communication equipment.
- Compile weekly reports detailing activities and achievements.
- Develop solutions for challenging technical issues encountered during system maintenance or upgrades.
- Engage in ongoing training on the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, Customer Service, and Sales teams to effectively maintain and support advanced communication systems that meet or exceed client expectations.
- Experience as a Communication Systems Technician with proficiency in P25 Systems, LMR RF systems, and both wired and wireless communication technologies.
- Strong knowledge of local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN).
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices is highly desirable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, showcasing strong computer skills.
- Exceptional self-management and interpersonal abilities to collaborate effectively with clients and team members.
- Self-driven and capable of working independently without direct oversight.
- Ability to resolve customer issues swiftly, even under pressure.
- Familiarity with configuring and testing base stations, repeaters, routers, switches, and MPLS networks.
- Skilled in installing, configuring, and maintaining computer networks, including cabling and firewall systems.
- Capability to develop and deliver technical training sessions.
- Provide guidance on integrating new tools and solutions into team operations.
- Experience with equipment used for optimizing and testing Motorola communication systems.
- Proficient in configuring and testing Motorola two-way radio and subscriber products.
- Experience with logging systems, RF interfaces, and networking equipment.
- The Field Service Technician must reside within a reasonable commuting distance to the service area, as most public safety clients are located in this region.
- Willingness to travel frequently is essential.
- Ability to obtain necessary background clearance as mandated by government clients.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Availability for on-call duties.
- FCC license and industry certifications are advantageous.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required.
