Position Overview

As a World Language Educator, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the linguistic and cultural understanding of our students. Currently focusing on Spanish and Mandarin, we welcome expertise in additional languages as well.

Reporting Structure

You will report directly to the Director of Academics, providing essential instruction across various content areas.

Qualifications Required

  • Certification in the relevant educational field
  • Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) with a concentration in language education
  • A minimum of three years of secondary classroom experience in an urban educational setting
  • Proven teaching experience with diverse student academic levels
  • A creative and enthusiastic approach to teaching
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a diverse instructional team
  • Experience in engaging with parents and the community
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, effective classroom management, and adaptive teaching strategies
  • A growth mindset, open to feedback from leadership and peers

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Planning and Delivery

  • Develop cohesive lesson and unit plans
  • Utilize student data to inform instructional decisions
  • Create and implement assessments aligned with curriculum standards
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary curriculum development, connecting content to local and global contexts

Learning and Development

  • Design and deliver lessons using inquiry-based teaching methods
  • Employ a variety of technologies and strategies to differentiate instruction
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and assessments

Community Engagement

  • Build positive relationships with students
  • Establish regular communication with parents
  • Provide guidance and support through advisory groups
  • Engage actively with new school initiatives
  • Participate in ongoing professional development
