Job Summary

The Registered Nurse - Freestanding Emergency Room coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for assigned patients.
  • Meet the Standards of Practice for the Emergency Department (ED) and manage all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment.
  • Participate in activities to plan, measure, assess, and improve the quality of patient care.
  • Routinely provide triage assessment for patients presenting for treatment.
  • Routinely perform venipunctures for obtaining specimens for lab tests.
  • Routinely provide intervention in emergency, life-threatening situations.
  • Assume the responsibility of charging the department, as needed.
Requirements
  • Current Texas Licensure with State Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) Required, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
