Position Overview:

The role of a Quality Assurance Engineer (Embedded QA Tester) involves identifying technical issues and collaborating with cross-functional teams to devise solutions. This position is focused on evaluating Supernatural's offerings across various platforms, including Meta Quest headsets, heart rate monitors, Android devices, iOS devices, and web applications. The Embedded Quality Assurance (EQA) Team comprises testers assigned to different units within Supernatural, with a primary focus on early-stage feature testing and team leadership. These professionals work closely with developers to ensure that features are thoroughly vetted before they proceed to the Release Quality Assurance (RQA) team for final evaluation and deployment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Identify and assist in rectifying defects in pre-release software.
  2. Conduct internal EQA assessments and other necessary evaluations for additional support.
  3. Generate comprehensive and detailed reports for projects evaluated by EQA as necessary.
  4. Set up, configure, and maintain VR hardware and associated equipment.
  5. Review and assess any required software, devices, and hardware.
  6. Distribute and manage testing responsibilities among team members as needed.
  7. Promptly escalate critical defects to relevant stakeholders.
  8. Develop and analyze test cases, test plans, and associated meetings.
  9. Participate in daily stand-up meetings and related discussions.
  10. Oversee, configure, and allocate CMS and API-related evaluations within EQA.
  11. Create test plans based on features and priorities to ensure thorough testing of new functionalities.
  12. Communicate updates regarding feature test cases to RQA leadership regarding any changes.
  13. Maintain records of test runs for current workloads, ensuring up-to-date progress tracking.
  14. Support team dynamics during meetings, retrospectives, and stand-ups by documenting and relaying essential information.
  15. Provide feedback during Test-Driven Development (TDD) reviews to enhance understanding from an EQA perspective.
  16. Coordinate tasks with other departments to address additional testing requests and inquiries.
  17. Assist with CMS/API-related tasks in collaboration with QA, particularly for in-house testers and leads.
  18. Engage with stakeholders to clarify questions and provide necessary support.
  19. Conduct functionality testing as required to cover additional workload.
  20. Share EQA updates and support with other departments during high-level meetings.
  21. Offer assistance to outsourced testing groups, maintaining effective communication.
  22. Support the setup of specific tools/accounts necessary for testing, identifying issues and areas for improvement.
  23. Communicate requirements and assess how well they are being fulfilled.
  24. Proactively identify problems and propose solutions, often driving resolutions independently.
  25. Seek improvements in components or systems to facilitate the development of new features.
  26. Enhance team efficiency by identifying bottlenecks and implementing changes to resolve them.
  27. Foster inter-team relationships to drive tasks across departments with empathy.
  28. Continuously learn new technologies and enhance personal skills.
  29. Provide constructive feedback to team management regarding the performance of team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Pursuing or holding a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  2. Over 4 years of experience in game/application testing across current consoles, PC, Android, and/or iOS.
  3. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  4. Familiarity with bug tracking tools such as JIRA.
  5. Understanding of the software testing lifecycle.
  6. Experience in an Agile Development environment.
  7. Ability to lead teams towards shared objectives, regardless of formal authority.
  8. Experience in multitasking and prioritizing tasks with minimal guidance.
  9. Demonstrated attention to detail while adhering to deadlines.
  10. Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
  11. Willingness to work overtime when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. At least 1 year of coding experience.
  2. A proven track record of successfully completing large-scale projects.
  3. Experience with a shipped game or application on console, PC, or mobile platforms.
  4. Experience in creating or updating Test Cases and/or Test Plans.
  5. Familiarity with TestRail or similar tools.
  6. Experience in installing, configuring, using, and troubleshooting VR hardware and heart rate trackers.

Compensation:

Annual salary ranges from $106,000 to $125,000, plus bonuses, equity, and benefits.
