Business Development Representative

The primary function of this role is to act as a liaison between Excelacare and the community, ensuring that community and customer needs are met. This involves developing and implementing strategies to establish and expand business in the assigned region.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop short-term and long-term sales strategies to establish and/or expand business in the assigned region.
- Provide counsel to Excelacare regarding community needs, program development, and personnel and financial requirements.
- Implement processes to determine which referrals are directly related to the contact of the specialist.
- Develop marketing plans, business plans, sales strategies, and action plans for identified targets of opportunity.
- Develop and expand existing client base.
- Establish marketing goals to ensure share of market and profitability of services.
- Participate in job fairs for the region.
- Promote business by continuously calling and identifying potential clients.
- Establish and maintain ongoing client relationships with discharge planners, physician's staff, and physicians.
- Provide immediate and detailed feedback regarding sales calls or prospects to the supervisor.
- Oversee public relations activities, special events, and celebrations.
- Monitor, evaluate, promote, and order all promotional products.
- Conduct presentations to appropriate associations and organizations to increase awareness of Excelacare.
- Assist other locations as needed to provide direction and communication with other business development representatives.
- Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws relating to the operations of Excelacare.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Adhere to the appropriate State Association for Home Care Code of Ethics.
- Conform to all applicable Excelacare policies and procedures.
- Participate actively in continuing education and in-services.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and business trade practices.
- Assume accountability for reporting incidents and complaints according to Excelacare policy.
- Sympathetic attitudes towards care of the sick.
- Ability to read, write, and carry out directions.
- Maturity and ability to deal with demands of the job.
- Basic math skills related to patient care.
- Cooperative attitude.
- Time management.
Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.
Risk Management:- Cooperates fully in all risk management activities and investigations.
- Keeps abreast in changes in healthcare law.
- Maintains Excelacare/program compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
- Reliable transportation.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years' experience in home health or medical background preferred.
- License/Certification: Driver's license and proof of current auto liability insurance; No Listing in the OIG Excluded Provider Listing; listed in good standing on state nurse aide registry or requirements of a state licensure program meeting federal regulations.
Works in patient's home in various conditions, possible exposure to blood and body fluids and infectious diseases. Ability to work flexible schedule, ability to travel locally, some exposure to unpleasant weather. Moderate noise level; Category A BBP risk; moderate stress and emotional demands.
Physical Requirements:Prolonged standing and walking required. Ability to move up to 50 lbs. and move patients. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines, to identify patient needs, to make quick decisions and notify supervisor. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Ability to utilize durable medical equipment in the home.
