Position Overview:
The Surgical Technologist plays a crucial role in maintaining a sterile environment for patient care. This position involves preparing surgical instruments and anticipating the needs of the surgical team during procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure a sterile field is maintained throughout surgical procedures.
- Prepare and set up surgical instruments and supplies for operations.
- Assist the surgical team by providing necessary instruments and materials promptly.
- Support the surgical team during procedures to ensure efficiency and safety.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
- Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program and possession of a surgical technologist certification; new graduates must obtain certification within six months of graduation.
- Completion of a surgical technology training program in the military (Army, Navy, or Air Force).
- Prior employment in surgical technology at a Penn State Health facility or another healthcare institution within the last two years.
