Surgical First Assistant

At Penn State Health, we are seeking a highly skilled Surgical First Assistant to join our team in the operating room. As a Surgical First Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing direct patient care and supporting the operating surgeon during procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist the operating surgeon in providing wound exposure, maintaining hemostasis, and manipulating tissues with surgical instrumentation.
- Work collaboratively with the surgical team to ensure a smooth and efficient surgical process.
- Provide direct patient care and support to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
Requirements:
- Associates Degree required.
- NBSTSA CST Certification required.
- BLS Certification required.
- Three (3) years relevant experience.
- Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) certification.
- Individual must provide evidence of one of the following: Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program and maintains a Surgical Technologist certification; new graduates of accredited surgical tech programs may obtain certification within six months of graduation. Completion of an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the US Army, Navy, or Air force. Previously employed to practice surgical technology by the hiring Penn State Health (PSH) health care facility on or before December 29, 2020, or had been employed to practice surgical technology as the primary function at another healthcare facility at any time during the two years prior to December 29, 2022.
Preferred Qualifications:
- NBSTSA CSFA Certification preferred.
