Position Summary

Reporting to the Managing Director of Academics, the Student Information Systems Analyst (SISA) plays a crucial role in collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure that our information systems and associated educational technology platforms consistently meet high-quality standards. The SISA is also responsible for equipping users at different levels with the necessary resources, knowledge, and tools to navigate these systems efficiently. The focus will be on functionalities and systems related to grading, credits, report cards, graduation plans, and transcripts.

Key Responsibilities

Data Systems & Policy Management

  • Collaborate closely with the Regional Managing Director of Operations to co-manage our student information systems (currently PowerSchool), emphasizing functions related to grade books, credits, graduation plans, report cards, and transcripts.
  • Work in partnership with the MD of Academics to oversee and maintain essential student data and various educational technology systems that integrate with our student information system (including Mosaic, Clever, Illuminate, DeansList, etc.).
  • Engage with our contracted Tech Support team and vendors to ensure seamless connections between systems and facilitate automatic and ad-hoc account provisioning.
  • Conduct audits of information, rectify errors, and build user skills to prevent future inaccuracies.
  • Establish and document policies, practices, protocols, and systems for the SIS to ensure consistent and accurate operations moving forward.

Reporting

  • Coordinate with school teams and vendors to guarantee the timely production and distribution of accurate, clear, and actionable report cards, data sheets, progress reports, and transcripts.
  • Support the management, development, and enhancement of key reports for staff that facilitate effective monitoring of grades and graduation plan progress.

Analysis

  • Monitor key metrics related to grades, GPAs, credit acquisition, and graduation progress, reporting significant changes or trends.
  • Synthesize key findings in clear language tailored to the intended audience.
  • Translate data into relevant insights and implications.
  • Assist colleagues in interpreting findings.

Training & Support

  • Train school leaders, teachers, office managers, and other staff to efficiently utilize SIS functions and reporting tools related to grade books, credits, graduation plans, report cards, and transcripts.
  • Engage with key constituent groups (leaders, teachers, operations staff, parents, and students) to understand their experiences, gather feedback, and prioritize enhancements to system functions, reports, and training.
  • Manage relevant support requests and communicate best practices and solutions to common challenges across school sites.
  • Develop reference tools and resources to support ongoing training and professional development.

  • Required Skills/Experience:
    • Proficiency in Excel and/or Google Sheets, including formulas and pivot tables for data manipulation, compilation, and analysis.
    • Experience analyzing trends in data and communicating them effectively to various stakeholders.
  • Preferred Skills/Experience:
    • Experience with Tableau, Tableau Prep, or other Business Intelligence (BI) tools for data visualization.
    • Experience managing and auditing data quality as a database administrator.
    • Experience writing and executing SQL queries for data manipulation.
    • Experience with educational technology platforms.
    • Experience using Student Information Systems (such as PowerSchool) and/or Customer Relationship Management software (such as Salesforce).

Compensation

  • Competitive salary aligned with other Charter Management Organizations (CMOs), starting at $80K+, based on experience.
