Hawthorne, California, United States SpaceX Full time

At SpaceX, we are driven by the vision of a future where humanity explores the cosmos, and we are dedicated to developing the technologies that will make this a reality, with the ultimate aim of enabling human life on Mars.

As a Cybersecurity Systems Officer (CSO) with a TOP SECRET CLEARANCE, you will play a critical role in safeguarding our classified systems.

We are seeking a seasoned information security expert with extensive technical expertise in information assurance and a solid history of managing the evaluation and accreditation of information systems within secure environments.

As a vital member of the National Security Team, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the authorization and accreditation of classified systems.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced and demanding environment, demonstrating a high level of responsibility and accountability while working with minimal direct supervision (other than from the Information Systems Security Manager).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborate with the information systems security manager and system administrator to ensure adherence to government regulations and requirements, including NIST 800-53a and its derivatives.

Conduct analyses of these requirements and regulations, and prepare the necessary documentation to maintain or obtain an Authorization to Operate (ATO).

Serve as a subject matter expert on government accreditation processes within classified environments.

Act as the primary point of contact for inquiries regarding processes, timelines, and the status of classified assets, providing updates to the information systems security manager.

Assist in the development of policies, procedures, and standards for the secure deployment and maintenance of classified information technology systems.

Foster relationships with government clients to ensure open communication as systems are developed and accredited. Respond to information requests promptly and thoroughly.

Engage actively in the accreditation, modification, and expansion of current information systems to support program needs. Provide technical guidance on the authorization and accreditation process.

Report to internal stakeholders and executive sponsors on the status and timelines of projects, both periodically and upon request.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent.

3+ years of experience in roles such as Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE), Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO), or Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM).

Possession of Security+, GSLC, GSEC, or other DoD approved 8570 Baseline Certification in Information Assurance Management (IAM) Level I or Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II.

Active Top Secret/SCI clearance or active Top Secret clearance with favorable completion of a U.S. Government polygraph.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information systems/IT, mathematics, physics, or a related technical field.

Familiarity with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) within both the Intelligence Community (IC) and Department of Defense (DoD).

Knowledge of authorization, certification, and accreditation processes related to classified information systems.

Proficient with tools such as XACTA, eMASS, ServiceNow, Nessus, Splunk, McAfee ePO, and other security technologies.

Basic understanding of computer networking and management of Windows/Linux systems.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Demonstrated ability in technical project management.

Proven track record of delivering results efficiently and effectively.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Willingness to travel as required for programmatic needs.

Availability to work extended hours and/or weekends to meet mission milestones and deadlines.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range:

Cybersecurity Systems Officer: $110,000.00-$145,000.00 annually. Actual salary will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience. An active clearance may qualify you for a 10% differential, up to an additional $15,000 annually, once integrated into a classified program.

Your total rewards package at SpaceX includes long-term incentives, potential discretionary bonuses, and the opportunity to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

Comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short & long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other benefits are also included.

Accrual of 3 weeks of paid vacation and eligibility for 10 or more paid holidays each year. Exempt employees receive 5 days of sick leave annually.

ITAR REQUIREMENTS:

To comply with U.S. Government export regulations, applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees, or must be eligible to obtain the necessary authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
