Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at The Good Shepherd in Ashland, OH. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will provide high-quality care to our residents, working collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Administer nursing care in accordance with current guidelines and regulations, ensuring the highest degree of quality resident care.
  • Act as resident advocate, assuming authority, responsibility, and accountability for resident care on assigned shift.
  • Oversight of nursing assistants, ensuring adherence to established safety regulations and infection control techniques.
  • Assist and support RN Charge, monitoring staff to ensure proper administration of treatments and medications.
  • Complete accident/incident reports, report changes in condition, and ensure accurate documentation in medical records.
  • Receive physician's telephone orders, transcribe orders to resident chart, care plan, medication, and treatment records.
  • Chart nurses' notes in an informative and descriptive manner, reflecting care provided and resident response.
  • Order prescribed medications, supplies, and equipment as necessary, in accordance with established policies.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations, determine shift staffing requirements, and make recommendations to unit managers/supervisors.
  • Inspect nursing service treatment areas, resident lounges, and rooms to ensure cleanliness and safety.
Requirements
  • Licensure as a Practical Nurse (LPN) with current, active license in the State of Ohio.
  • Long-term care experience preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and listen to families, residents, visitors, staff, and government agencies.
  • Flexibility in managing schedule, including weekends and evening hours.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license, access to reliable insured transportation, and ability to meet LSS insurance standards.
