We are seeking a skilled and compassionate LPN to join our team at Lutheran Social Service. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to our residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
Key Responsibilities- Administer nursing services in accordance with current applicable guidelines and regulations to ensure the highest degree of quality resident care.
- Act as the resident advocate and assume responsibility for the quantity and quality of resident care given on assigned shifts.
- Oversight the day-to-day functions of nursing assistants, ensuring they follow established safety regulations and infection control techniques.
- Monitor assigned staff to ensure they are following established safety regulations and infection control techniques in the use of equipment and supplies.
- Ensure proper administration of all treatments and medications, and accountability of all medications, including narcotics.
- Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required, and complete accident/incident reports as necessary.
- Chart nurses' notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided to the resident, as well as the resident's response to that care.
- Order prescribed medications, supplies, and equipment as necessary, and in accordance with established policies.
- Participate in employee performance evaluations, determine shift staffing requirements, and make recommendations to unit managers/supervisors concerning employee discipline, dismissals, transfers, etc.
- Inspect the nursing service treatment areas, resident lounges, and rooms to ensure they are maintained in a clean and safe manner.
- Report all allegations of abuse and begin immediate investigation.
- Licensure as a Practical Nurse (LPN) with current, active license in the State of Ohio.
- Long-term care experience is preferred.
- Able to effectively communicate and listen to families, residents, visitors, staff, and government agencies both orally and in writing.
- Able to function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, families, and support agencies.
- Possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures that are necessary for providing quality care.
- Possess leadership ability and the skills to manage and supervise nonprofessional personnel.
