As a Lead LPN at King's Daughters Medical Center, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient delivery of nursing care under the direct supervision of Physicians and Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioners (APRNs). Your primary responsibility will be to manage patient movement throughout the medical practice, ensuring timely rooming, turnover, and patient flow to support physician and APRN efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare patients for physician and/or APRN visits by obtaining vital signs, chief complaint, past medical history, medication history, and updates, as well as ensuring best practice alerts are addressed prior to the visit.
- Gather pertinent health data through physical assessments and biological samples, and collect specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Provide basic patient care as ordered, based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations.
- Document assessment and effectiveness of interventions, and execute or assist in prescribed treatments and medical interventions.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor and document treatment progress, and utilize organization-wide safe medication practices.
- Actively manage nursing in-basket responsibilities and perform registration duties as needed, including call backs, referrals, and customer check-in/out.
- Provide teaching and educational material to patients and/or significant others as needed, and document patient and/or family understanding.
- Graduate from an accredited school of Practical Nursing.
- Maintain active LPN license in the Commonwealth of Kentucky (or other eNLC state with multistate privileges) and/or Ohio, as indicated by department and potential assignment.
- Achieve and maintain American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Preferred qualifications: one year LPN experience.
As a Lead LPN, you will be constantly working near moving mechanical parts, exposed to blood and/or body fluids and infection, and occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of radiation, and moderate noise levels.
Physical Demands- Occasionally required to maintain a stationary position (standing or sitting).
- Frequently required to walk and move about, operate a computer and other equipment, and use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices.
- Constantly required to lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds, frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds, and occasionally required to lift and/or move items up to 100 pounds.
- Constantly required to communicate with patients and other care team members, requiring talking and hearing.
