Job Summary: As a Clinical Nurse B at Loma Linda University Medical Center, you will perform the nursing process with minimal supervision and seek assistance as necessary. You will utilize discretion and independent judgment in applying the nursing process to provide age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient care. You will function in a skills mix environment and directly supervise and delegate tasks to licensed and unlicensed staff. You will meet qualifications, licensure, certifications, and competencies as defined in the unit or department-specific Plan for Providing Care. You will apply theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expand your knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in your area of specialty. You will utilize interpersonal skills to maximize excellence in customer service, safe patient care, and professionalism. You will contribute to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population.

Education and Experience: A Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) is required. If hired into a Loma Linda University Health entity prior to April 1, 2020, an Associate Degree or Diploma Degree in Nursing is required. One year of nursing experience is required. New hires are eligible to be promoted into the CN-C classification when criteria outlined in the Clinical Advancement Program handbook and job specifications outlined in the CN-C job description are met.

Knowledge and Skills: You must be able to read, write legibly, speak in English with professional quality, use a computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position, troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment, and perform technical patient care activities. You must be able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others, be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies, work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure, lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate, and accept direction.

Key Responsibilities: You will be able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone, think critically, perform basic math functions, manage multiple assignments effectively, organize and prioritize your workload, work well under pressure, problem solve, recall information with accuracy, pay close attention to detail, and work independently with minimal supervision. You will be able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care, hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care, see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to the position, and discern temperature variances through touch.

Licensures and Certifications: An active California Registered Nurse (RN) license is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association is also required.
