Job Title: Director of Perioperative Services

Job Summary:

The Director of Perioperative Services is responsible for overseeing the daily clinical operations of the center, managing the nursing staff, operating room, post anesthesia care unit (PACU), and preoperative area. This role enforces and monitors policies established to ensure compliance with Federal & State regulations and the company's policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops, interprets, and enforces standards in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, AAAHC, and/or Joint Commission.
  • Integrates nursing policies with organizational policies.
  • Assumes responsibility for managing human and material resources to provide quality patient care in a conducive environment.
  • Accountable for ensuring staff provides age-specific nursing care for the patient population.
  • Coordinates patient flow throughout the perioperative services areas from admission to discharge.
  • Consults in patient care situations requiring advanced competency and knowledge.
  • Serves as a clinical resource for problem-solving and assists staff with patient-related issues.
  • Responsible for cost-effective operations and initiatives, including product evaluation, prevention of waste & damage, materials management, patient flow, control of overtime, & appropriate staff mix.
  • Able to provide safe, quality care directly to a surgical patient as needed.
  • Manages time and attendance for direct reports.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Science (BSN) preferred.
  • Current and valid registered nurse license required.
  • CNOR certification preferred.
  • CPR certification required.
  • At least 5 years' total clinical experience; with two years in nursing administration/OR management; computer skills.
  • Experience in outpatient healthcare operations or similar service environments preferred.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Completes required orientation as directed by facility.
  • Follows facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignment.
  • Respects cultural and religious practices of patients.
  • Upholds HIPAA regulations.
  • Punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts.
