Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Controller in the Automotive/Finance sector. This role is tailored for a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual with extensive experience in finance and accounting, particularly within the automotive industry. As the Controller, you will oversee the financial operations of our organization, which includes the preparation of financial reports, management of accounting records, and implementation of a robust system of controls and budgets to mitigate risks, enhance the accuracy of financial reporting, and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the accounting department's operations, ensuring an effective organizational structure to meet departmental goals.
  • Develop and maintain a system of controls over financial transactions.
  • Produce timely and accurate financial statements.
  • Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report.
  • Calculate and issue financial and operational metrics.
  • Manage the annual budget and forecasting processes.
  • Provide financial analyses for capital investments, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations.
  • Establish and manage a loss review program and maintain appropriate reserves.
  • Monitor cash balances and forecasts.
  • Facilitate debt and equity financing arrangements.
  • Oversee all fiscal reporting activities, including revenue/expense and balance sheet reports, and budget development.
  • Monitor banking activities to ensure adequate cash flow.
  • Supervise and mentor the office manager regularly.
  • Ensure effective management of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including disaster recovery planning.
  • Oversee business insurance and healthcare coverage evaluations.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent experience with 5+ years in a significant role within a major company or division.
  • Preference for candidates with CPA or CMA certifications.
  • Required experience in the automotive sector, specifically with dealerships.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with an executive team, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, vlookups, sumifs, and complex formulas.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting.
  • Experience in legal, audit, compliance, budgeting, and resource development.
  • Proven track record in managing finance, accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate strategic vision into operational models.
  • Effective communicator with strong oral and written skills.
  • Commitment to developing team members.
  • Ability to provide strategic insights and advice across the organization.
  • Willingness to engage hands-on with team members.
