Job Overview

Construction Financial Analyst - Construction Division


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of divisional financial reports for presentation to senior management on a monthly basis.
  • Conduct analysis of profit and loss statements and balance sheet accounts, create relevant schedules, and execute month-end closing entries for all active contracts.
  • Ensure accurate job costing through meticulous coding of payables, auditing specific projects, and liaising with field staff.
  • Assist with various accounts receivable tasks, including billing preparation, account reconciliation, and cash collection support.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with field personnel.
  • Oversee daily cash flow and generate cash forecasting reports.
  • Prepare and deliver ad hoc reports as requested by divisional and senior management.
  • Analyze expenditures to ensure proper recording in accordance with project budgets.
  • Manage budgets and perform periodic variance analysis.
  • Maintain clear tracking of project expenses.
  • Initiate new projects and assist in the management of ongoing projects.
  • Oversee company and project cash flows.
  • Coordinate with the company's cost accounting system.
  • Review, maintain, and enhance the existing construction management system, including project setup, estimated job costs, cost codes, contracts, change orders, purchase orders, and customizing construction progress reports as necessary.
  • Examine construction contract documents, including change orders and lien releases.
  • Review and assess the capitalization of costs to ensure adherence to revenue recognition standards and company policies.
  • Manage the process for accurate and timely coding of construction invoices (payment applications).

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • A minimum of 4 years of education in business, accounting, or finance, along with 1-2 years of experience in construction or job cost accounting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction cost accounting principles and revenue recognition standards.
  • Proficient in addressing common business inquiries from customers, regulatory bodies, vendors, employees, and management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a higher qualification.
  • At least 2 years of experience with the Percentage of Completion construction method.
  • Strong supervisory skills with experience managing multiple employees.

Compensation

The compensation package will be based on qualifications and experience.
