Summary

In light of the ongoing Pandemic and varying state reopening phases, the selected candidate's start date at the designated duty station may be postponed until employees are permitted to return to the workplace. The chosen individual may work remotely to the fullest extent possible, potentially full-time, until state and Federal authorities allow regular workplace attendance.

Responsibilities

The role involves serving as a Staff Support Specialist (MSS-1) at an ATC-8 level terminal facility. This position is accountable for tactical, strategic, and administrative assistance across various program domains, including training, quality control, quality assurance, traffic management, airspace and procedural operations, planning and programming, operational automation, military operations, special and security operations, and safety management systems.

The job necessitates an extensive understanding of the air traffic control (ATC) sector and familiarity with the integral components of the National Airspace System. Specialists must effectively apply this expertise to analyze, evaluate, and devise innovative methods, studies, approaches, and procedures. The Staff Support Specialist is expected to be well-versed in agency-wide initiatives, facility objectives, and must communicate effectively, tailoring messages to the intended audience. While not mandatory, experience with hardware/software is advantageous. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is necessary. Candidates must fulfill the following:

  • Must have held an FAA 2152 FV-J/FG-14 or higher regional or headquarters position for at least 1 year (52 weeks);
  • OR must have been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) at an ATS facility;
  • OR must have held a MSS position for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility.

In addition to the qualifications mentioned, the chart on MSS positions will be utilized to determine which career level applicants are eligible to apply.

Education cannot substitute for experience at the AT-2152-HI level. Ensure your resume contains detailed information to support your qualifications and responses to the job questionnaire.

Additional Information

This vacancy may be used to fill other similar vacant positions. The position may require a background investigation. A one-year probationary period may be necessary. The selected individual may need to file a financial disclosure statement within 30 days of starting the job.
