Position Overview:

We are seeking a Customer Service Specialist I to deliver exceptional customer service by surpassing client expectations through advanced interpersonal skills, comprehensive product knowledge, and effective problem-solving capabilities. This role will act as a vital link between customers and various internal departments, including Sales, Accounts Receivable, and Operations, to ensure a seamless customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with customers, sales teams, and other departments to provide detailed information regarding products and services, process orders, and address customer inquiries.
  • Assist in the warehouse as needed to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Investigate and respond to customer inquiries, prioritizing urgent issues.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of lead times, product specifications, pricing, and shipping schedules.
  • Document customer interactions and transactions accurately in SAP and other software systems.
  • Facilitate new customer setup in SAP, collaborating with the credit and collections team.
  • Update and maintain customer master files, ensuring accuracy in contact details and pricing.
  • Support the Credit department in resolving invoice disputes and billing errors.
  • Provide freight estimates and collaborate with Operations for accurate delivery information.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience with SAP is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years in customer service or a related field.
  • Industry knowledge is advantageous.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to type 30+ wpm.
  • Basic mathematical skills for calculations involving discounts and percentages.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% as needed.
  • Effective telephone communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic warehouse environment.
Work Environment:
  • Physical demands include occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds and the ability to perform tasks requiring visual acuity and manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods and operate a computer efficiently.
  • Adherence to safety protocols, including wearing safety glasses and appropriate footwear, is mandatory.
